Job description:

The trainee will be integrated in ACC’s expertise center in Bordeaux working with the “Cell management” team within the simulation department. The internship main goal is to implement and calibrate the physical aging models on a pre-defined performance Newman model on COMSOL. It can be divided into multiple subsections that are sorted here under in function of priority for a 6 month period (5 months of internship work + 1 month for the internship report):

  • (1.5 month) Literature review of the battery aging mechanisms and investigation of the PyBaMM aging modeling technics
  • (0.5 month) Assessing the PyBaMM aging modeling technics into a small report/presentation
  • (0.5 month) Getting familiar with the COMSOL programming environment and the performance modeling
  • (0.5 to 1 month) Implementing the SEI growth model
  • (0.5 to 1 month) Implementing the Li-plating model
  • (0 to 0.5 month) Implementing loss of active material models
  • (0 to x month) Extra work:

-Proposing a calibration method of these models

-Studying the interaction between these mechanisms

-Proposing reduced order models ideas

  • (1 month) Writing up of a report describing the methods, results and outcomes of the internship, presenting the work to the Simulation team
